Real connection requires real trust.

Safety isn't a settings page on SPEED — it's built into how every event runs. Below are the standards every member accepts, what is never allowed, and exactly what happens when someone breaks them.

Verified 18+ members

Every member affirms they are 18 or over, and rooms can require photo verification so the person on screen is the person in the profile.

Never recorded

Dates are private 1-to-1 calls inside SPEED. We don't record them and we don't store video or audio — only the metadata needed to run and moderate the event.

Private ratings

Your Yes, Maybe or Pass is never shown to anyone. Only a mutual yes creates a match.

Structured by design

Every date is timed and ends automatically. There's no pressure to keep talking and no way to linger.

End, block and report in one tap

A safety control is on screen during every date. One tap disconnects you, blocks them permanently and files a report with the event and round attached.

Blocking is permanent

A block is global and irreversible for pairing: you will never be placed in a room with that person again, at any event, ever.

Community Standards

Version 2026-08-01. Every member accepts these before their first event.

Be respectful

Treat everyone the way you'd want a stranger to treat someone you love. Disagreement is fine. Contempt isn't.

Be yourself

Show your real face, use your real name and real photos. Impersonation and identity fraud end your account.

Be safe

Keep private details private. Never send money. Leave any date that doesn't feel right — you never owe an explanation.

Consent matters

Consent is specific, enthusiastic and revocable. Sexual content is never welcome on SPEED, and neither is pressure of any kind.

No one owes you a connection

A pass is a complete answer. No follow-up, no persuasion, no retaliation.

This list is explicit on purpose. There is no ambiguity about what gets you removed.

Safety Center

Before a date

  • Do your preflight — camera, mic and a stable connection.
  • Sit somewhere private with a neutral background. No mail, no street signs, no house number.
  • Decide in advance what you're not sharing: surname, employer, exact address.

During a date

  • You can end a date at any moment. The Safety shield stays on screen the whole time.
  • If something feels off, trust it. You don't need proof to leave.
  • Never move to another app or platform mid-date because someone pressures you to.

After a date

  • Your Yes / Maybe / Pass is private. No one is told you passed.
  • Messaging only opens on a mutual yes, and you can block from a conversation at any time.
  • Report anything that crossed a line, even if the date already ended.

Meeting offline

  • Meet in a public place, in daylight if you can.
  • Tell a friend where you're going and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transport, both ways.
  • Protect your home and work address until you genuinely trust someone.
  • Never send money, gift cards or crypto. Not once, not for any reason.
  • Leave the moment you're uncomfortable. Your safety outranks politeness.

Protecting personal information

  • SPEED shows your first name, age, city and interests. Nothing else is shared automatically.
  • Be careful with social handles — they're a shortcut to your whole life.
  • Watch for someone steering the conversation toward where you live or work.

Recognising scams

  • Instant intensity, then a crisis that needs money.
  • Investment tips, crypto, or 'I'll teach you how to trade'.
  • Requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram within minutes.
  • Anyone asking you to pay to keep talking. SPEED will never do this.

Reporting and blocking

  • Report from inside the date, or afterwards from your recap and matches.
  • Blocking is permanent and mutual in effect: you'll never be paired again, on any event, ever.
  • The person you report is never told who reported them.

Emergency situations

  • If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
  • Then tell us at safety@speed.dating so we can restrict the account.
  • SPEED cannot guarantee another person's behaviour — we can act quickly on what you tell us.
